Once an application is submitted, our admissions team will carefully review the application and the chosen specialty will determine whether to make an offer of admission. Applicants will be contacted individually if the faculty chooses to perform an interview.

Admissions Notification
Our Office of Student Affairs reviews submitted applications to ensure they are complete. A submitted application is defined as complete when all the required information, transcripts and letters of recommendation have been received. Our Office of Student Affairs will send applicants a notice confirming their application is complete.
Once the application has been deemed complete, the specialty and DNP faculty will carefully review the application and determine whether to make an admission offer, to make a decision of non-admission, or to place the applicant on a waitlist for admission. You can expect to be notified of this decision no later than eight to 10 weeks of receiving the notice that confirms your application is complete. If you receive an admission offer, you will have two weeks to consider it.
The UCSF School of Nursing does not grant many admission deferrals. We will generally only grant deferments for admitted students who have/will fulfill the conditions outlined on their admission contract AND meet one of the following circumstances:
- A serious medical condition(s) and/or treatment(s)
- Active military orders and/or service
- Religious missions
- Other extenuating circumstance
All deferral requests must be received by May 1. The request must be submitted in writing, clearly state one of the above reasons and be addressed to the Assistant Dean, Office of Student Affairs at [email protected]. Approval of a deferral request is not guaranteed. If a deferral request is not approved, you have the option to reapply for admission in the subsequent application cycle. Please note that admission is not assured.
