Nursing Faculty Council and UCSF Academic Senate: Meeting Agendas and Minutes 

The Nursing Faculty Council acts on behalf of the school's faculty in matters related to education and other issues of concern for the faculty, in which they are advisory to the school's dean. Meeting agendas, minutes and attachments are available on the UCSF Academic Senate website.

In addition, when you visit the UCSF Academic Senate website, you can select the “Committees” tab to see all meeting agendas and minutes from the Academic Senate Council and Committees.

Education & Curricular Innovation Hub

The School of Nursing’s Education and Curricular Innovation Hub was established in 2015 to support advancements in teaching and learning to meet the needs of nursing education in the 21st century. The Hub, housed within a distinct physical space, provides coordinated support for nursing faculty and staff.

Communications

The communications team provides communications guidance, support and services that advance the mission of the School of Nursing. Communications staff also serve on campus-wide committees to strengthen the quality of communications at UCSF, help create and implement shared resources (such as the UCSF Brand Identity) that can benefit the School of Nursing community, and influence communication policy. For questions or assistance, please contact Director of Communications and Marketing Wade Bennett. For general inquiries, contact [email protected]

Promoting News and Events

Submit news items related to our academic programs, faculty, staff, students and alumni, and news that would be of interest to these same audiences. Examples include:

  • Awards and other milestones or accomplishments
  • Activities that students or faculty are involved in, especially those that are high profile; those that advocate for nursing or our student programs; make nursing understandable to a general audience; involve community engagement or partnerships with industry or external partners
  • Outreach/diversity efforts
  • Student volunteer efforts

The School of Nursing newsletter, which publishes every other Tuesday, is the best way to make sure your announcements, events, honors and news listing(s) reach all faculty and staff. To submit an item for consideration, complete our newsletter submission form. News items should be submitted for consideration in the form of a brief story that only requires light editing. 

The Students Weekly Digest shares announcements about UCSF, the School of Nursing and nursing-related events, electives, activities, jobs, volunteer opportunities, scholarships and fellowships with students once a week on Tuesdays during the academic year. To review our guidelines and submit an item for consideration, visit our submission form. You can also share your events with students via the Graduate & Professional Student Association and the Associated Students of the School of Nursing.

For all events, you may submit your event, including dates, location and a brief description, through the campus calendar at calendar.ucsf.edu. Be sure to "follow" the School of Nursing group calendar. (Look for the submission button on the lower right. A login is required to submit events. Be sure to tag with School of Nursing as "affiliation" and "department/group.") For digital signage around the UCSF campus, visit the campus digital signage website for instructions.

TA and GSR Job Postings

To request a teaching assistant, please review our guidelines on how to submit a request. If your request has been approved, you may complete our TA job posting template to have the job ad posted on the School of Nursing website. If you would like to post a job ad for a graduate student researcher opening, please use our GSR job posting template to create the ad and email it to [email protected].

Positions are posted in the jobs listing section of the School of Nursing website until filled and shared with students via the Students Weekly Digest.

Education Verification Request

If you would like to request Education Verification for a former UCSF nursing student, please complete this form. * Files are uploaded securely and kept confidentially. The UCSF School of Nursing only verifies specific information such as type of specialty, courses completed, course content, clinical and/or didactic hours. If you need only need degree conferral date and dates attended please contact the National Student Clearinghouse.

Sigma Theta Tau Alpha Eta Chapter

The UCSF Alpha Eta Chapter is the 29th chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Society of Nursing (Sigma), an international community of nurses dedicated to the advancement of knowledge, teaching, learning and service through the cultivation of communities of practice, education and research. UCSF Health Employee Dress Standards

Please review the UCSF Health Employee Dress Standards (Policy 4.03.04) and the accompanying FAQs document for important details about the established standards of dress and personal appearance for employees, volunteers and others who represent UCSF Medical Center and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital, and to provide guidelines for specific departmental dress and personal appearance standards. All UCSF Health personnel, including faculty, staff and trainees, must maintain an overall appearance that will demonstrate respect for others and maintain professional dignity and standards in the eyes of patients, physicians, co-workers and visitors

Office of the Ombuds

The Office of the Ombuds serves as a confidential resource for all members of the UCSF community (faculty, non-faculty academics, staff, administrators, students, post-doctoral fellows and other trainees). The Ombuds will listen; help identify options; make inquiries and make referrals as appropriate; and/or facilitate resolutions in an impartial manner. The Office of the Ombuds supplements and does not replace or substitute formal grievance processes made available by the University. Campus Advocacy, Resources and Education (CARE)

CARE Advocate: Campus Advocacy, Resources and Education (CARE) provides free, confidential support to any UCSF affiliate including students, staff, faculty, post-docs and researchers who have experienced interpersonal violence such as sexual assault, dating/intimate partner violence, sexual harassment, or stalking, or retaliation related to participation in an Office for the Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination complaint resolution process. You may speak with the CARE advocate confidentially about your experiences and receive emotional support and resources. CARE can be reached at 415-502-8802 or [email protected].

Faculty and Staff Assistance Program

Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) provides confidential employee assistance services for personal and work-related issues. Support is offered for a wide range of issues including work related stress, relationship/couple issues, family problems, depression, anxiety, or other emotional problems, grief and loss, alcohol, drug and other addictions, consultations and training services for faculty and staff management. Caring for the Caregiver

Caring for the Caregiver Program is a confidential peer support team to provide one-on-one, emotional first aid for members at UCSF Health who are traumatized by involvement in an adverse or unexpected patient event, medical error, or stressful patient care experience. The program is available to all health care team members at UCSF Health hospitals and clinic sites to ensure that providers and staff are emotionally supported through the experience of patient care.
