Van Ta Park, PhD, MPH, associate professor in the School's Community Health Systems department, has received a $3.3 million three-year grant from the NIH National Institute on Aging.

Park’s goal is to collaborate with academic and community partners to engage, educate and recruit 10,000 Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) into a potential participant registry for Alzheimer's and aging research.

Through this multi-site effort in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento County, Los Angeles County and Orange County, she hopes to give AAPI a "voice" in research and reduce health disparities/inequities.

Park’s co-investigators are Alka Kanaya, MD, from the UCSF School of Medicine and Diana Lau, PhD, RN, from the Asian Health Institute at UCSF.
