Spotlight on Students at WIN

The Western Institute of Nursing’s 50th Annual Communicating Nursing Research Conference was held April 19 through 22 in Denver. Joining several UCSF School of Nursing faculty researchers, clinicians, educators, were a few of our stellar students:

Hamza Abid, MS(c), BSN, RN, presented his work “Redesigning a Hybrid Classroom Genomics Minor for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses.”

Lorinda A. Coombs, PhD(c), RN, FNP-BC, AOCNP, whose presentation “The Quantity of Care Provided by Nurse Practitioners to Older Adults with Cancer” was awarded “Best Gerontology Practice Presentation.”

Linda D. Gregory, RN, MSN, PhD(c), presented her groundbreaking work on the experiences of diverse PhD students. Her poster presentation was titled “Navigating The Nursing Academy: Stories by PhD Underrepresented Minority Students.”

Schola Matovu, RN, BSN, MSN, PhD(c), presented “Experiences of Grandparents Caring for Grandchildren Affected By HIV/AIDS in Uganda” with Margaret (Meg) I. Wallhagen on the plight of grandparent caregivers of children affected by HIV in Uganda.
