On April 7 and 8, the School welcomed over twenty students as part of Inside UCSF—an annual outreach program geared towards students at two- to four-year degree schools who are interested in pursuing careers in health and science. For those students pursing the nursing tracks, Outreach and Recruitment Director Sergio Saenz led several student volunteers, staff, and faculty who collaborated to make the weekend exhilarating for participants. The two-day program consisted of UCSF student panels, interactive workshops, and an opportunity to meet with University faculty and staff.

According to Director Saenz, “the visiting students left feeling welcomed, inspired, and empowered to become students at UCSF.” In a note to faculty at the School, Saenz added special thanks to Mary Foley, Laura Wagner, Rosalind De Lisser, Amanda Peacock, and Michalle Ramirez-McLaughlin for representing their departments. Jayme Mejia was the featured faculty speaker connecting with students instantly, speaking of the power of mentorship in her career and her commitment to give back to her community and aspiring students.

Over the two-day program more than thirty student volunteers from the School engaged with Inside UCSF participants.
