A group of SON faculty, staff, PhD students, postdocs and alumni, as well as colleagues from UCSF Health, attended the Western Institute of Nursing's 52nd annual Communicating Nursing Research Conference from April 10-13, 2019 in San Diego.

Dean Catherine L. Gilliss, PhD, RN, FAAN, was a guest speaker and presented a State of the Science Address.

PhD students from the School of Nursing made the following research presentations at the conference: 

  • Relationship of Stress to Cortisol during Pregnancy: The Moderating Role of Gestation by Sarah Elizabeth Richoux
  • Experience of Aging in Place in the United States: Systematic Review & Meta-Ethnography by Amy Rosenwohl-Mack 
  • Hormone Therapy Decision Making in Older Women: Ghostwriting Is Working by Mary M. Hunter
  • Hormone Therapy Decision Making in Older Women: Joint Decision Making Best Practice by Mary M. Hunter
  • A Framework of Being the Spouse of a Person with Early-Age Onset Dementia by Sasha Binford
  • Barriers to Accessing Maternal Health Care Service for Women in Central America by Ashley Younger
  • Findings from the First Year of CA’s Workplace Violence Prevention in Healthcare Standard by Rachel Odes
  • Mental Health Research Priorities for Sexual and Gender Minority People by Kristen D. Clark

In addition, several faculty and students volunteered to run the SON's booth at the conference to help recruit prospective students and faculty to the school.
