Judy Alonzo

Judy Alonzo, clinical placement analyst in Community Health Systems, is celebrating 28 years of service in her department at the School of Nursing. We checked in with her as she reflects on this milestone.

Please describe your role. What do you like most about your job?

I assist in getting the students onboard for their clinical sites. Lots of paperwork. I like when the onboarding goes smoothly with no problems!! At first, it was just 50-60 students per year for the AGPCNP students. In the last two to three years, I do all the placements in the department so that has doubled to 120 students per year.

As someone who’s been at UCSF for over two decades, you’ve likely seen a lot of changes. What are some of the biggest changes you’ve seen?

Lots of our former alumni from the AGPCNP are now faculty.

Do you have any suggestions for making the most of working here?

In my department, we (staff) all work as one. We are team players. We are here for the students and faculty!

What is something most people don’t know about you?

That I’m a Raiders & Warriors Fan, my favorite color is Purple and that I love to dance. I love to dance to Salsa, Merengue, Cumbias and Reggeaton.

If you could have any job in the world (aside from the one you have now), what would it be?

Stewardess, to fly all over the world.
