STRIDE Holds 2nd Annual All-Staff Retreat

Stride Retreat

The School of Nursing staff group, Stronger Together: Resources for Inclusion, Diversity and Excellence (STRIDE), successfully held the its second annual all-staff retreat on August 7, 2018. A diverse group of 47 staff participated in the half-day retreat in the Parnassus library's Lange Room. The retreat kicked off with breakfast and warm welcomes from the STRIDE retreat committee and Dean Gilliss, who reiterated the School’s commitment to an inclusive work culture and strongly encouraged staff to participate in the upcoming strategic planning retreat on September 5.

The activities began with an icebreaker, followed by a segment that included a presentation on the UCSF Faculty Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) services and guided exercises for stress management led by two FSAP staff. The latter half of the retreat focused on workshopping ideas to further build SON-wide community. Participants brainstormed activities related to broad topics that included financial wellness, staff recognition, health and wellness, and others.

Feedback from those attending and presenting at the event was very positive. All staff are encouraged to become part of the STRIDE steering committee and to participate in STRIDE events.
