Professor Margaret (Meg) Wallhagen, PhD, GNP-BC, AGSF, FGSA, FAAN, in the UCSF School of Nursing's Department of Physiological Nursing, is being honored with the 2019 Helen Nahm Research Lecture Award.

This award recognizes a UCSF School of Nursing faculty member or alumnus who has made an outstanding contribution to nursing science and research, as evidenced by outstanding contributions and as illustrated by funded research, citations and publications, students research supervised, and faculty mentored. It also considers the influence of the nominee on the chosen field over a sustained period of time, with particular reference to local, national, and international recognition. Recipients are made by the School of Nursing Research Committee.

Wallhagen has had a distinguished career at the UCSF School of Nursing, with major career-long, contributions to our profession’s knowledge about healthy aging and hearing loss. She epitomizes Helen Nahm’s desire to share research findings with new generations of nurses and her work exemplifies Nahm’s excellence of scholarship and dedication of purpose.

This year’s Lecture and Award Ceremony are scheduled for 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on May 23 on the Parnassus campus (Nursing Building, Lecture Hall 225), with a reception to follow.
