Transition to Canvas
A major focus of the EdTech Hub is supporting the School of Nursing's transition from Moodle/CLE to Canvas. The Hub developed a School of Nursing-specific course development and migration process, created a standardized Canvas course template, tested educational technology integrations, and works directly with faculty to prepare and optimize courses for the new learning environment.
This work continues as courses move to Canvas and faculty become more familiar with the platform. Beyond migrating content, the transition provides an opportunity to improve course organization, accessibility, and consistency; establish effective practices for teaching in Canvas; and helps faculty make thoughtful use of the platform's tools and integrations. The team's work includes accessibility review, external-tool testing, link validation, and faculty training on new Canvas workflows.
BSN Entry to DNP Curriculum Design and Development
The EdTech Hub partnered with faculty and academic leadership to design and develop the School of Nursing’s new three-year BSN Entry to Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) – Advanced Nursing Focus curriculum.
Working on an accelerated timeline, the Hub helped translate the new program’s curricular vision into a cohesive learning experience, supporting curriculum design, course development, instructional approaches and educational technology. The program welcomed its inaugural cohort of 58 students in June 2024, preparing nurses for advanced specialty practice and leadership at the doctoral level.

- Integrating Artificial Intelligence into Nursing Education, Stanford InnovateED 2026: Explores the thoughtful integration of generative AI into nursing education, with practical approaches for incorporating AI into teaching and learning while supporting learning objectives, critical thinking, and responsible use.
- Canvas Migration — Tips and Lessons Learned, UCSF Teaching Innovations Work Group (TIWG): Shared the School of Nursing’s approach to the Canvas transition, including course migration and cleanup workflows, the SON Canvas template, accessibility, technology integrations, and lessons learned supporting faculty through the transition.
- Engaging Adult Learners through Educational Technologies, Stanford InnovateED 2025: Explored evidence-informed strategies for engaging adult learners in online and hybrid environments, with practical examples of technologies that support active learning, interaction, feedback and community building.
