Biography
As a Professor in the Community Health Systems department in the UCSF School of Nursing, I am passionate about teaching trainees about the art and science of advanced practice psychiatric nursing. My contributions to the field have been recognized with several awards, including the Teacher of the Year at the School of Nursing and the Distinction in Teaching Award from UC San Francisco Academic Senate. I hold a Certificate in Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapy from the California Institute of Integral Studies and earned an MS in Nursing from UC San Francisco, School of Nursing and am a board certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
In my research I have been involved in groundbreaking studies on psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy including FDA registry trials of MDMA and psilocybin assisted therapies. I am a cofounder of the Organization of Psychedelic and Entheogenic Nurses, advocating for the perspective and contributions of nursing to psychedelic assisted therapies. I have published widely on this topic, including the first article on psychedelic therapies in the American Journal of Nursing in 57 years.
