Jarmin Yeh, PhD, MPH, MSSW

I am an Associate Professor at UCSF’s Institute for Health & Aging in the School of Nursing. As a sociologist and gerontologist, I focus my research on age-friendly communities, age-friendly health systems, and workforce issues that impact older adults, people living with dementia, and caregivers. I direct the Community Action Research in Gerontology (CARING) Lab and co-direct the UCSF Emancipatory Sciences Lab. Additionally, I hold affiliate appointments with the UCSF Healthforce Center, the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies, and the Bioethics program. I also teach in the Master of Science in Healthcare Administration and Interprofessional Leadership (MS-HAIL) Program. Prior to this role, I managed a national workforce initiative at The New York Academy of Medicine’s Social Work Leadership Institute. I currently serve on the boards of the Metta Fund, Community Living Campaign, and California Council on Gerontology and Geriatrics. Outside of academia, I’m a retired gymnast and former student-athlete, though I still occasionally perform the occasional cartwheel.
