Biography
Angel Chen Kuo, EdD, CPNP-PC, FNAP, FAANP, is a Clinical Professor in the UCSF School of Nursing and Interim Director of the UCSF Program for Interprofessional Practice and Education (PIPE). She is a Fellow of the National Academies of Practice (FNAP), a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP), and a member of the UCSF Academy of Medical Educators.
Dr. Kuo's scholarly work focuses on interprofessional education, workforce development, faculty development, and clinician educator identity formation. As PIPE’s inaugural associate director, Dr. Kuo played a pivotal role in shaping the program's growth and strategic direction. She has co-led the development of classroom, simulation, and clinical curricula; co-chaired the curriculum committee; and led the Interprofessional Collaboration Scholars Program, an innovative longitudinal program preparing future health professionals for collaborative practice.
Dr. Kuo has served on multiple Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) workforce training grants aimed at strengthening the diversity and quality of the nurse practitioner workforce. She is the Principal Investigator of the HRSA-funded Underserved Coalition for Bay Area Advanced Practice Training (UCBAAPT) (2023–2027), an Advanced Nursing Education Workforce grant. She also serves on multiple HRSA-funded Nurse Practitioner Residency/Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship grants supporting preceptor development for clinicians in postgraduate NP residency programs across Federally Qualified Health Centers in Northern California. In addition, she is an active faculty developer with the UCSF Center for Faculty Educators, teaching across several Teach for UCSF programs.
Dr. Kuo maintains an active clinical practice as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the Pediatric Urology Clinic at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, where she enjoys teaching interprofessional learners while caring for children and families with a broad range of pediatric urologic conditions.
Since 2023, Dr. Kuo has also served as faculty with the UCSF Leadership Institute, teaching in its longitudinal Evidence-Based Practice program for nurses, nurse leaders, and interprofessional clinicians in the United States and internationally, including Taiwan and Hong Kong.
