Depending on the geographic area, one of the most common illnesses encountered by travelers are gastrointestinal infections. While frequently not serious, symptoms should be treated early to prevent possible complications from dehydration and fever. Speak with your health care provider about being prepared to self treat these kinds of illnesses as medications may not be readily available once you are traveling.
