School of Nursing Orientation Focuses on Diversity
In late September, diversity was one of the themes of a three-day orientation for new master’s, Master’s Entry Program in Nursing (MEPN) and doctoral degree students at the UC San Francisco School of Nursing.
The School’s Diversity in Action (DIVA) Committee introduced several important resources for students of color and LGBT students, and led discussions and an interactive training session based on its H*E*A*L*S model, which provides a structured approach to creating a respectful and inclusive environment for students, faculty and patients.
A welcome-back reception that DIVA hosted included activities and conversations led by representatives from the UCSF Multicultural Resource Center and the UCSF LGBT Resource Center.
See “Orientation Focuses on Diversity and Inclusion” for more information and a slideshow on DIVA orientation activities.
