Breaking News: UCSF School of Nursing’s Vlahov and Wong Assume National Leadership Roles

UCSF School of Nursing Dean David Vlahov has been elected to the Board of Directors for the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) and appointed to the Health Resources and Services Administration’s National Advisory Council on Nurse Education and Practice, an advisory position to the Secretary of Health and Human Services and Congress.

In addition, President Barack Obama has announced the appointment of Alice Wong – a staff research associate at UCSF School of Nursing’s Center for Personal Assistance Services – to the National Council on Disability. Wong conducts research and training about personal care services that help people with disabilities live in the community, as opposed to being institutionalized in a nursing home. She is president of the San Francisco In-Home Supportive Services Public Authority Governing Body, and is a board member of Asians and Pacific Islanders with Disabilities of California.

There is more on Wong’s appointment at www.ucsf.edu.
