A signature initiative within the UCSF Leadership Institute, the Academy for Clinical Nursing Leadership is a six-month program for experienced nurse managers or directors who have served in a leadership role for three or more years, and aspire to serve as a senior leader within a health care organization.
The Academy includes some pre-work, six four-hour monthly learning sessions, completion of a leadership project, and two executive coaching sessions.
The Academy will provide participants with long-lasting skills to not only navigate an ever-changing, complex health care landscape, but to also lead and innovate with the aim of improving the delivery of health care and patient care locally, nationally and globally. Expert facilitators, industry leaders and executive coaches who specialize in supporting health care leaders will use the American Organization for Nursing Leadership Nurse Manager Competencies to advance participants’ understanding of The Leader Within, as well as The Science and The Art of leading.
Intentional learning experiences combined with executive coaching will foster the development of the following AONL competencies among the program participants:
- Performance Improvement
- Strategic Management
- Financial Management
- Human Resource Management
- Shared Decision Making
- Relationship Management and Influencing Behaviors
- Personal and Professional Accountability
- Career Planning
