We are saddened by the loss of two treasured emeriti faculty:
Jeanne Hallburg, Professor Emerita, passed away on March 22, with family at her bedside. Jeanne was tenured at UCSF in 1971, and served until her retirement in 1990.
A nationally known scholar in gerontology and chronic illness, she continued her contributions to these subjects even after retirement, through mentorship of our Hartford Center scholars.
A memorial celebration of her life will take place on Monday April 2, 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., at the Faculty/Alumni House, 745 Parnassus Avenue.
Patricia Pothier, Professor Emerita, passed away on March 23, with friends in attendance. Her family hosted an open-house reception on the weekend following her death, and several UCSF emeriti and staff were able to participate, despite the short notice due to family travel needs. Pat served at UCSF from 1967 until her retirement in 1991.
She was project director on several NIH grants before being appointed to tenure, and served as Chair of the Department of Mental Health, Community, and Administrative Nursing, Acting Dean, and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Her service to the University was coupled with her commitment to the care of vulnerable populations, most specifically developmentally disabled children.
They remained close friends of the School and our activities, and will be greatly missed.
