UCSF NP Residency

Unique Program Design

At Glide Health Services, we prepare Nurse Practitioners to become competent Primary Care Providers in the community. The purpose of this residency program will be to transition new graduates into their practice, enabling them to strengthen their skills through multi-disciplinary core competencies, didactics, and rotations. For the first six months, residents will experience a dedicated mentor relationship with two preceptors, each with over ten years of experience, in preparation for a full, independent role within a challenging health care environment. In the second-half of the program, residents will see new patients, and integrate, a project designed to meet their clinical interest.

  • Mentored patient sessions with a 1:2 preceptor-to-resident ratio
  • Increasing independence and patient panel building
  • Emotional Competency course through Equilibrium Dynamics (EQD), a nonprofit educational organization
  • Participation in interdisciplinary training through rotations at St. Francis, UCSF, and SFGH
  • Didactics on best practices in mental health, dermatology, asthma, joint injections, cardiology, gynecology, diabetes, and ECG interpretation

Professional support will be provided to the NP residents to help with successful role development. Residents will have an opportunity to discuss administrative, clinical, and personal concerns often experienced in the first year of practice. Residents will master specific strategies offered from an expert in the field.
