Advantages of an NP Residency Program

The Nurse Practitioner Residency concept is supported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Bureau of Health Professions (BHPR), Division of Nursing to ease the transition and assure the success of recently licensed Nurse Practitioners into their role as primary care providers.

The program supports the mission of the health centers to provide excellent, comprehensive primary health care, including preventive techniques and health education for people who are uninsured and underinsured in a culturally competent environment.

New Nurse Practitioners become more confident, skilled, and clinically effective if given a year of designed support. Our program supports recently licensed nurse practitioners by providing them with mentors with professional expertise and didactic content that deepens existing skills. In this way, our NP residents are able to meet the complex needs of underserved adult populations.
