Job Description:

This Graduate Student Researcher (GSR) position will support a study focused on diabetes distress in hospitalized patients. This is a partnership between the School of Nursing and UCSF Health, and the GSR will work closely with Elena Flowers, PhD, RN, FAAN, and Esther Rov-Ikpah, MS, RN-BC, who is a diabetes educator. This is a pilot mixed-methods study that includes both questionnaires and interviews. The primary role for the GSR will be to assist the study team with data collection and dissemination.

Job Responsibilities:

The GSR will assist with maintaining IRB and other study-related approvals, preparation of reports, and scheduling and facilitating team meetings and communication. The GSR will assist with formatting, editing, and submission of manuscripts and presentations related to the study. This person will have the opportunity to learn about study design, statistical and qualitative data analysis, and overall research activities to support their eventual success as an independent investigator. The student will participate in bi-monthly study team meetings.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with word processing and spreadsheet software tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and able to manage calendar invitations and monitor emails
  • Data entry

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with qualitative data analysis and software tools
  • Database management experience
  • Experience with statistical software tools
  • Image generation using software tools. 

Time Commitment, and Compensation:

This position will require approximately 6-8 hours per week. Compensation will be based on experience (Salary Scale for GSRs).
