For the past 25 years, my program of research has focused on the assessment and treatment of pain in critically ill patients. My research has expanded to include assessment and treatment of other symptoms in ICU patients and ICU palliative care. Study topics have included non-verbal pain assessment, ICU procedural pain, ICU communication, and ICU patient and family symptoms.
